ORU coach Sutton thought his team deserved postseason. Scott Sutton said he was disappointed late Sunday when his Oral Roberts basketball team was excluded from postseason tournament play for the second straight year. The Golden Eagles were left on the outside looking in when the NIT, CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament and CBI announced their fields.

You heard a lot of talk about a team's body of work (Sunday) on the NCAA selection shows, and I thought our's was a pretty good one   -Scott Sutton

Most of the team that liked to erase deficits will be back. SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The character of an Oral Roberts basketball team that never gave up came through again Monday night. The Golden Eagles erased a 21-point deficit against second-seeded IUPUI, but allowed the Jags to escape with a 69-65 win in the semifinals of the Summit League tournament.

After a year's absence, the Oral Roberts men's basketball team is back in the semifinals of the Summit League Tournament. The Golden Eagles were determined to avoid another first-round exit like last year when they lost to South Dakota State here. Mission accomplished, but it wasn't it easy.

ORU junior forward Michael Craion was named Summit League Newcomer of the Year, the league office announced on Thursday. Sophomore forward Dominique Morrison , freshman guard Warren Niles and senior forward Kevin Ford also earned recognition. Craion, a transfer from Independence Community College, enters Summit League Tournament play averaging 13.2 points and 7.4 rebounds, while shooting 51.2 percent from the field.  

ORAL ROBERTS is the third seed in the upcoming Summit League Tournament. The Golden Eagles were beaten twice by Summit League regular-season champion Oakland this season. Still, it would be foolish not to keep an eye on ORU when the Summit League Tournament gets under way.
